Alex Burgess: Festival Fashion

Everyone knows that it’s not officially summer until festival season has begun! As a girl who goes to a lot of festivals, I know it can be quite tricky deciding on what to wear for a weekend in the fields, so that’s why this post will focus on festival fashion! (Sorry boys).

I was lucky enough to head to Coachella earlier this year, where the weather was absolutely lush. Sadly, that’s not always in the case in the UK, especially in the North East. As Split returns with its new date in summer, rather than in the autumn, all we can do is pray that the sun will shine as we head to Mowbray Park on the 9th and 10th of August! But let’s be honest, even if it does rain, that will NOT stop us from dressing like we’re in California, in a billion degree heat, right? RIGHT!

For me, ‘boho chic’ is a timeless trend when it comes to festival fashion. Whether it’s a long, floaty dress, or a fringed, patterned kimono, channeling your inner Florence Welch will make you feel more than prepared to dance around in the mud.

If you’re looking for a safe option, then you’ll probably want to go with denim, because let’s be honest, you can never go wrong with denim. You can wear it with almost ANYTHING! Jeans, shorts or even a skirt – it’s is never going to let you down. Match it with a little cami top, or if you fancy showing off your summer body, a nice patterned bralet! You can always match it with a band tee, too, if you fancy keeping it casual.

I absolutely love the big, bold colours that are on trend this summer! Lime green, bright coral, and orange in particular, so if you want to make a statement, a nice block colour is definitely the way forward!

One of my favourite buys so far this summer, has been a floral playsuit from River Island. Playsuits always seem like a good idea, but the minute you’ve had one too many drinks, and it’s time to break the seal, things can get a little tricky. Especially when you have to go to a portaloo… But don’t let that stop you!

Floral print in any form is perfect for summer, and I think so far this festival season, Lana Del Rey has been proving that with her beautiful array of dresses.

Last but not least- you can’t go wrong with a nice floral headband to finish your outfit off!

So there we have it, my festival fashion tips for this summer! What are you waiting for? Go ahead and spoil yourselves!
